About AP Score Calculator Hub
AP Score Calculator Hub is an independent education resource that builds free, research-backed AP exam score calculators. We help high school students estimate their potential AP exam scores using the official College Board section weightings and the latest publicly available score distribution data.
What Makes Our Calculators Different
Most free AP score calculators online rely on outdated formulas or generic scoring templates. We take a different approach. Every subject-specific calculator on this site is built using:
- Official section weightings published by College Board on AP Central and the AP Students assessment pages.
- Score distribution data from the most recent official administration, as released by College Board each summer.
- Subject-specific input fields that reflect how each exam is actually structured, including exams with multi-component scoring like AP Seminar, AP Research, and AP Chinese Language and Culture.
For example, our AP Precalculus calculator uses the official 62.5% MCQ and 37.5% FRQ weighting published on College Board's AP Central. Our AP Physics C: Mechanics calculator reflects the current 40-point MCQ plus 40-point FRQ format (10+12+10+8) from the 2025 released scoring guidelines. Our AP Seminar calculator applies the official 20/35/45 weighting across Team Project, Individual Research-Based Essay, and End-of-Course Exam components.
Our Methodology
- Source verification. Before publishing or updating any calculator, we review the current College Board Course and Exam Description (CED), the AP Central exam page, and the AP Students assessment page for that subject.
- Score distribution alignment. Cutoff benchmarks for each AP score (1 through 5) are informed by the latest official score distribution released by College Board, not arbitrary thresholds.
- Annual review. Each calculator is reviewed annually after College Board releases July score data, and updated when the exam format, section weightings, or score distributions change.
- Transparent disclosure. Every calculator clearly states that results are unofficial estimates and that College Board does not publish exact cut points for each administration.
Our Commitment
We do not claim to predict official AP scores. College Board sets the final scoring curve after each May administration based on form difficulty and student performance. Our calculators are a planning and practice tool, not a replacement for official score reports.
If we make a mistake or an exam format changes, we fix it. If you spot an error or have a suggestion, we want to know. Please reach out through our contact page.

Sources We Use
Our calculators are built from primary sources. Where possible, we link directly to the College Board AP exam pages for each subject so you can verify the format and scoring weights we use.
